I thank H.E. President
Donald Trump for his direct attention, in initiating and pushing for ceasefire
between Cambodian army and Thai army and continue to monitor the implementation
of direct ceasefire until there is permanent peace and normalization of Cambodia-Thai
relations in the near future. In addition, H.E. the President also provided an
understanding for Cambodia, providing opportunities to further strengthen
economic development and trade relations between Cambodia and the United
States.
During my telephone
conversation with H.E. President Donald Trump last 26 and 28, I emphasized the
importance of peace and development of Cambodia as Cambodia has recently
recovered from the chronic war in the country for over 500 years. On that
occasion, I also requested H.E. President to give understanding to reduce the
tax on imported goods from Cambodia to any low rate that will enable Cambodia
to continue developing the country and uplift the livelihoods of Cambodians.
