United State: President Donald Trump has approved a significant reduction in the import tariff rate for Cambodia to 19%, effective from August 1, 2025
This decision marks a considerable drop from the initial punitive tariff of 49% proposed by the United States. Following negotiations, the rate was first lowered to 36% and has now been further reduced to the current 19% level. The final reduction came after Cambodia and Thailand agreed to a ceasefire following a border clash, as President Trump had threatened to halt trade deals if the conflict persisted.
