Azerbaijan and Armenia Publicly Release Peace Agreement Achieved with Trump's Help
12-08-2025
(TBILISI/BAKU): On Monday, August 11, Azerbaijan and
Armenia publicly released the text of a peace agreement mediated by the United
States, pledging to respect each other's territorial integrity and formally
ending nearly four decades of conflict. This is according to a report by
Reuters.
The Azerbaijan-Armenia peace agreement was reached
last Friday during a meeting at the White House between Azerbaijani President
Ilham Aliyev, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and U.S. President
Donald Trump. The content of the agreement states that Yerevan and Baku will
renounce all claims to each other's territory, avoid the use of military force,
and pledge to respect international law.
Mr. Pashinyan emphasized that the agreement is a solid foundation for building a reliable and lasting peace, a result that reflects the balanced interests of both countries. Meanwhile, Mr. Aliyev told reporters that Yerevan has some domestic work to do following this peace agreement.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan and Armenia are neighboring countries in the South Caucasus region. The two countries have been locked in a conflict since the late 1980s over the Nagorno-Karabakh region, a mountainous area at the southern end of Azerbaijan's Karabakh mountain range.
