The Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) meeting in Malaysia is scheduled to take place this afternoon, August 7, 2025. After the meeting concludes, at approximately 3 PM, there will be a press conference held by the Thai side only. The Cambodian side plans to hold its press conference after returning to Cambodia.

Separately, the Deputy Minister of Defense and the Minister of Home Affairs of Malaysia are also scheduled to give interviews to the press after the Cambodian and Thai defense ministers depart from the meeting venue this afternoon.

During the past three days, the secretariat-level meeting between Cambodia and Thailand reached an agreement in principle on several points regarding the implementation of a ceasefire along the border of the two countries. This includes an agreement on the efforts of temporary observers, composed of ASEAN defense attachés, to monitor the practical implementation. The group of temporary ASEAN observers consists of seven countries: Malaysia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam.
There are still some remaining points that need to be reviewed and discussed again at the defense ministerial level of both countries this afternoon.

The results of the Extraordinary General Border Committee (GBC) meeting between Cambodia and Thailand in Malaysia, led by General Tea Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and Mr. Natthaphon Nakphanit, Acting Minister of Defense of the Kingdom of Thailand, proceeded in a constructive and positive atmosphere, which led to fruitful results. Both sides also agreed on the terms of a ceasefire and the arrangement of a mechanism for implementation. The Cambodian and Thai sides agreed to adopt the minutes of the Extraordinary General Border Committee (GBC) meeting between Cambodia and Thailand and a joint statement.
