4 dead, 100 missing in India floods

(AFP): A sudden flood carrying mudslides smashed into a city in the Himalayan region of India on Tuesday, August 5, killing at least four people and leaving more than 100 others missing, according to the AFP news agency.
Heavy rain that caused
mountain torrents has flooded people's homes in the town of Dharali in
Uttarakhand state. Indian authorities have claimed that the floods are severe,
with four people reported dead and 100 missing. At the same time, the Indian
government has sent 150 troops to Dharali to participate in rescue operations.
In a statement, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also sent a message of condolences to the families of the victims who died in the floods.
