Thai Plan to Assassinate Cambodian Leaders Using Airstrikes
(Phnom Penh) According to credible official sources, foreign
intelligence has reported that Thailand has a plan to assassinate Samdech Hun
Sen and Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet by dropping bombs.
The alleged plan involves
using AT-6 TH light attack aircraft equipped with Korean GPS-guided bombs.
These aircraft are considered more agile and harder to detect than F-16 fighter
jets, making a swift attack difficult for Cambodian forces to counter with
missiles.
Intelligence from a
foreign agency indicates that on July 29, 2025, Thailand received eight of
these aircraft and 200 bombs, in addition to four other aircraft that had been
sent for repairs and rearmament in South Korea. These GPS-guided munitions are
considered extremely dangerous due to their high precision.
According to the reported
plan, the Royal Thai Air Force would first test the effectiveness of these
aircraft at Phnom Trop. Subsequently, from August 4, 2025, they would await
battlefield assessments from the border. If unable to capture eight designated
areas, Thailand would allegedly dispatch the AT-6 TH light attack aircraft from
Trat province to evade Cambodian maritime defenses. The plan is said to be
awaiting intelligence from inside Cambodia to pinpoint the residences of
Samdech Hun Sen and Samdech Hun Manet for a decisive assassination attempt.
This report emerges amid
heightened tensions and a recent escalation in the long-standing border dispute
between Cambodia and Thailand. A fragile ceasefire was agreed upon on July 28,
following days of deadly clashes. Both nations have been engaged in diplomatic
talks in Malaysia to de-escalate the situation. The Cambodian Ministry of
Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has rejected accusations made by
Thailand regarding the border conflict and reaffirmed its commitment to the
ceasefire.
In a separate, earlier
event in February 2025, Samdech Hun Sen had announced that an assassination
plot against him using a drone had been foiled.
